CONTACT USHow
do I join? You
are welcome to attend rehearsals, which are held from 4pm to 7pm on
Sundays at Burgate Church
Hall. We do not hold formal auditions – we
reckon that after a few weeks you will know whether you’re going to
enjoy it or not. If you do decide you’d like to sing with us, there is
an annual membership fee of £70. Concessions may be available. How
to get there: Directions:
From the A143, Bury St Edmunds – Great Yarmouth road, turn off in the
village of Wortham, taking the road towards Mellis and Burgate. In about
one mile, turn right, signposted Burgate. Shortly afterwards, you come
to a T-junction. Burgate Church
hall is in front of you, just to the
right. (Please note that it is at some distance from the church). Map:
What
kind of singers are you looking for? We
are always looking for new members. Male voices are often in short
supply and so are especially welcome. Experience of singing in a choir
is not strictly necessary, just enthusiasm and a commitment to showing
up for rehearsals. You will not be expected to sight-read, but the
ability to read music is an advantage. Some members learn their parts
with the help of recordings. Do
you rehearse all year? And how do I get the music? The
choir meets from late August or early September, weekly until June. We
usually stage three concerts a year. The evening before a concert, there
is generally an extra rehearsal, then a full rehearsal at the venue on
concert days. We hire the music for each concert, which costs about £2.50
per score. How
can I become a Friend of the Burgate Singers? enquiries@burgatesingers.org.uk How
